Dear Member,
.
With the unprecedented situation we currently find ourselves in, we wanted to communicate clearly and concisely regarding our position as your Health Club & Spa.
.
The Government advice to date is that over 70’s and high risk groups should isolate, outside of this, the advice is that people should socially distance themselves to minimise the risk of infection. Outlined below is how we’re tackling the issue head on whilst still giving you the confidence to exercise in a safe environment.
.
✅ We are reducing class sizes to maximise the distance between members
.
✅ We are ending classes 5 mins early to allow all members to wipe down their equipment
We have relocated the Spin Bikes in the Bowls Building long bar to ensure we have 2m space between each bike
.
✅ Alternate cardiovascular equipment will only be switched on to maximise the distance between members
.
✅ Space the stretch matting more to maximise distances
.
✅ Offering online classes to members who cannot attend the club
.
✅ Space Boot Camps launching this week over in the Green Room in our 10,000 sqft hall, which will allow in excess of 2m between each member
.
✅ Outdoor Boot Camps as weather permits will be held on the tennis courts
.
✅ Now is a great time to start playing tennis in the fresh air (and sunshine for Vitamin D)
.
✅ The staff are constantly cleaning all touch points in the club
.
Hand sanitisers, wipes and antibacterial spray is available throughout the club and we expect members to use them before and after they train
.
We believe we are the cleanest club in the area and are doing everything possible to make this a safe and positive environment to exercise in. Being fit and active means you will already be in the low risk category and we encourage you to stay active and help support Odyssey as an independent, local business that has been part of Knebworth & Stevenage for over 40 years.
.
With your support we can get through this and be better and stronger for it.

Update:
To all members with underlying health conditions, we would advise to stay away from the steam room, but absolutely use the sauna as this has shown to be able to kill the virus as per the video we shared early today.
Regarding the pool, we are yet to find any supporting evidence for chlorine helping kill the virus but we’ll continue to search.
Being fit, active and healthy is your best defence.
