I have just returned from Rishikesh in India, where I completed my 100 Yoga Teacher Training.
I am qualified in fitness Yoga, although this opportunity allowed me study real yoga, helping me with the deeper understanding of the practice, and allowing me to pass this on to our members!
I chose to study Kundalini Yoga, which is a practice working with the bodies energy fields/centres (chakras) and the Kundalini energy. The aims are around balancing and cleansing the energy channels, awakening the Kundalini and letting it rise through the body. This is a lifelong practice! I wanted to study this due to the strong links to my Reiki practice.
In addition to Kundalini, I was also studying Hatha Yoga, Pranyama, Shatkarma, Meditation, Yoga Nidra, Yoga Philosophy and Anatomy.
Hatha is the fundamental Asana Yoga practice. Hatha Yoga was practiced extensively every morning, and I have come to love this practice.
I want to share this with you all, and as such will be changing my Beginners Yoga class to ‘Hatha Fundamentals’.
This class will take you back to basics, and fire up the body with mobility practice. I will also be working on your strength and flexibility. There will be detailed asana practice where I teach you correct alignment for key posture, there benefits. I will also be working on flow for the fundamental Hatha Vinyasa sequences ‘Surya Namaskar and Chandra Namaskar’ – Also known as sun and moon salutations.
Each class will be different, in terms of focus and asana practice.
This is still a suitable beginners practice, as well as for a more experienced practitioner.
I will also be bringing my experiences into to my Stretch and Meditation Classes.
Thank you for allowing me to share this with you all.
Chant ‘OM’…..Namaste x
