With the London Marathon just around the corner this weekend…
thousands of inspiring stories will be unfolding across the city. It’s a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we connect mind and body, set ourselves a goal, and commit to something bigger than we thought we were capable of.
For me, running has always been something I’ve enjoyed, but it didn’t start with long distances. My background was in short sprints and relays. My journey into endurance running began with Couch to 5K, and since then I’ve gradually built up to completing half marathons. Most recently, I ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon, achieving a personal best and raising £440 for Guide Dogs UK along the way.
That experience has only strengthened my motivation, and I’m now working towards something I once never imagined I’d do – running a full marathon.
What I’ve learned along the way is that running, like any meaningful goal, takes consistency, patience, and a willingness to follow a structured plan while staying open-minded. Progress doesn’t happen overnight, but every session builds towards something greater. And when you finally achieve a goal that once felt out of reach, it makes all the effort worthwhile.
This message isn’t just about running. It’s about whatever challenge or ambition you might be considering – whether that’s trying a new class, signing up for an event, improving your fitness, or setting a personal best of your own.
