Last weekend, two familiar faces from Odyssey Health Club (and a last minute super-substitute) swapped the comfort of our home turf for the buzzing streets (and waters!) of London, taking on the T100 London Triathlon – and coming away with an incredible 9th place overall in the team relay!
If you’ve never heard of the T100 series, it’s a world-class triathlon event held in cities across the globe, bringing together elite athletes and everyday participants alike. The London edition is set against a stunning city backdrop, with the swim in the Royal Victoria Dock, a fast and flat bike course through closed roads, and a scenic run to the finish. It’s an electric atmosphere and, thanks to the different race distances and relay format, it’s perfect for beginners and seasoned racers alike.
Our team line-up?
-
Kevin (Swim Coach at Odyssey) – Taking on his first ever triathlon event, Kevin powered through the 1.5km swim in just 25 minutes, battling hundreds of competitors in the water. His verdict? “Really well organised, great for beginners – I’d definitely recommend it!”
-
Phil (long-time Odyssey team member) – With little to no bike training this past year, Phil still clocked an impressive 1:09 over the 40km course, pushing hard from start to finish.
-
Sam – Stepping in last minute for the 10km run leg, Sam put in a blistering 43-minute performance to seal our top-10 finish.
The result? A beaming team, sore legs, and plenty of stories to tell – along with a shared sense of achievement that only comes from pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone.
Fancy giving it a go?
