World Meditation Day – Thursday 21st May 2026
Meet Our Meditation Teachers
World Meditation Day is a chance to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with yourself, and at Odyssey, we’re lucky to have a wonderful team of experienced teachers helping our members do exactly that.
Meditation doesn’t have to mean sitting perfectly still in silence for hours. It can be as simple as finding a few moments of calm in a busy day, focusing on your breath, or learning how to gently guide your attention back to the present moment.
To celebrate World Meditation Day 2026, we’re introducing some of the teachers who help bring mindfulness, movement, and relaxation to Odyssey.
Amanda Bannister
Amanda Bannister is an experienced Yoga Teacher who qualified with the British Wheel of Yoga. She has trained in Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Restorative and Yin Yoga, teaching students of all levels. Amanda also organises international Yoga Retreats and enjoys helping people reconnect through movement and mindfulness.
Amanda’s Meditation Tip
“Sit comfortably in front of a candle and focus gently on the flame. When thoughts appear, let them drift away like clouds passing by. Keep bringing your attention back to the centre of the candle light and settle into the present moment.”
Louisa Angus
Louisa Angus is a BWY Accredited Yoga Teacher with a 500-hour Level 4 Diploma. Since qualifying in 2016, she has taught an inclusive style of yoga, welcoming students of all abilities. Louisa believes yoga builds both physical strength and the mental space needed for relaxation and meditation.
Louisa’s Meditation Tip
“Meditation can feel difficult at first when the mind feels busy and distracted. Remember, meditation is not about stopping every thought, but about finding calm beneath the noise. Keep practicing gently and consistently, and the peace will come.”
Lianne Andrews
Lianne Andrews has practiced Yoga for almost 20 years and taught for the last 7. Her studies are rooted in traditional teachings and schools in India, bringing a calm and grounded approach to her classes. Lianne enjoys helping people connect movement, breath and mindfulness.
Lianne’s Meditation Tip
“Don’t worry about how many times your mind wanders during meditation. The important part is noticing it and gently bringing your attention back to the present moment. Each time you return your focus, you strengthen your awareness and deepen your practice.”
Finding Time to Pause
In a world that rarely slows down, meditation gives us the opportunity to pause, reset, and create space for ourselves — even if it’s only for a few minutes.
Whether you’re completely new to meditation or already have an established practice, our teachers are here to support you on your journey.
Join us at Odyssey this World Meditation Day and take a moment to breathe, move, and reconnect.
